ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Day of the Dead: Una Exhibición
In partnership with Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival
October 8 - November 2, 2016, FREE
Gough Gallery, Patterson-Appleton Arts Center
In partnership with Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival, the Greater Denton Arts Council presents an exhibition of traditional and contemporary ofrendas honoring departed loved ones and ancestors. Altars will be presented by the Tri-County Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, students of the Hispanic Honor Society and Denton Independent School District, Ghosts of Denton, and LULAC Denton.
Días de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday that celebrates the lives of family members and loved ones who have passed. Altars are built at the home of the families of the deceased, presenting offerings such as food, drink, flowers, incense and personal items to welcome the spirits of loved ones. Throughout the exhibition, visitors are encouraged to bring a personal item of remembrance to add to our community altar.
