ARTIST MEMBER: eugenia carmona - Ao

Eugenia Maria Carmona people here call me 'Ao'. I was born and raised in the border town of El Paso, Texas, and periodically lived in Chihuahua, CH and other regions of Mexico. I began my artistic life as a 'folklorico' dancer, or a regional Mexican dancer, and taught myself how to draw at the age of sixteen. I have been enveloped in the art world since then. My current work is based upon self-explorative narratives that intermix with my urban, indigenous, and religious background. The style I embrace is is heavily influenced by intuition and by the creation of my own visual vocabulary. I am looking forward to creating public art in Denton and reaching out to the community.
