MATERIALS: HARD + SOFT INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY CRAFT COMPETITION AND EXHIBITION
Recognized as one of the premier craft exhibitions in the country, Materials: Hard + Soft began in 1987 and was originally initiated by area artist Georgia Leach Gough. Now in its 31st year the exhibition continues to showcase the evolving field of contemporary craft and the remarkable creativity and innovation of artists who push the boundaries of their chosen media. Each year approximately 70 works from the hundreds submitted are selected by an esteemed juror for exhibition at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center.

The 2018 Call for Entries is now closed but check back Summer 2018 for 2019 Exhibition entry information.

CALL FOR MURALISTS | KEEP DENTON BEAUTIFUL

The Keep Denton Beautiful organization is looking for help in finding an artist for KDB’s latest community beautification work, a mural for the Eagle Drive/77 bridge underpass. The KDB Board and Mural Art Committee encourages GDAC members to submit names and portfolio links for area mural artists. We are looking for individuals who have experience working on large-format mural work. Residence in Denton is preferred but not required. The resulting compiled list of artists’ portfolios will be reviewed by the KDB Mural Committee. The committee will vote on their top artist selection, and the artist receiving the most votes will be approached with details of the project and an offer of work.

All artist recommendations should be submitted by no later than Friday, July 21, 2017 to Lauren Barker, Keep Denton Beautiful Program Manager, at lauren@kdb.org or (940) 349-8739.
