THURSDAY NIGHTS at PAAC

New in 2017! Stay late at the Arts Center and enjoy programs, events, and exhibitions through 9 PM each Thursday night. thanks to support from the Dentonite and Fort Worth Weekly. Upcoming events include:

Artist Talk ft. Justin Archer, Erik Beruvides, and Dan Black | March 30, 6 - 8 PM
Join the artists from the collaborative, multi-media exhibition Composite of the Soul, (exhibiting in Festival Hall gallery through June 3) to discuss their current installations as well as a presentation of new work. 

Emerging Artists: Annual Denton High Schools Art Show Opening Reception | April 6, 5-7PM
Discover the works of talented, emerging artists in our community featuring the recent works of Denton Independent School District high school art students.

Community Market Arts Vendors @ PAAC | Starting April 13, 6-8 PM
Presented in partnership with the Denton Community Market
Join us for a series of panel discussions with the arts vendors of the Denton Community Market! The night will begin with a short info session, artist talks, and goods available for purchase. Each night features a different selection of artists and a new theme. Learn more about each event here

Dr. Sketchy's Denton | Every Third Thursday, 6 - 9 PM, $5 to draw (next class April 20)
Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art school is the world's premier alt. drawing movement. Artists draw glamorous underground performers in a friendly BYOB environment (21 and up). Founded in 2005 at a dive bar in Brooklyn, Dr. Sketchy's has now spread to over 100 cities around the world. Join the Arts Council and artist Joe Duncan on the third Thursday of each month for a different theme and live model - only $5 to draw, so come in, sit down, and BYOB.

FIRST FRIDAYS AT THE ARTS CENTER

Enjoy First Fridays at the Arts Center as part of the monthly event across Downtown Denton. Each month brings a new experience thanks to support from the Dallas Observer and We Denton Do It. Upcoming events include:

April 7, 2017 | Artist Mixer, 6 - 8 PM
Join us for a night of networking and fun! Mix and mingle while exploring the galleries and enjoying the sounds of DJ Woodtronic, complimentary wine, beer, and hors d’oeuvres. Professionals working in the art field and art lovers from across DFW are invited.

May 5, 2017 | 2017 CARA Awards honoring Terry Nobles, 6 - 8 PM

June 2, 2017 | 2017 Arts Grants Awards, 6-8 PM
The Greater Denton Arts Council has given over $1.5 million dollars in grants to the arts of Denton through community arts grants and artist micro-grants. Celebrate the recipients of the 2017 Arts Grants Awards, supporting the artists and arts organizations of our community. The evening will feature performances by past and current grant recipients.

Arts & Advocacy Family Day: Artist Stand Kick Off Event

Patterson-Appleton Arts Center

In partnership with CASA of Denton County and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Denton County, families can enjoy crafts, performances, cupcake decorating, and more! Afterwards, enjoy more family activities on the Denton Courthouse Square in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. 2017 CARA Awards honoring Terry Nobles
Friday, May 5, 2017, 6 - 8 PM; Tickets $30
Patterson-Appleton Arts Center

Since 1974, the annual Community Arts Recognition Award (CARA) honors those who have significantly enhanced the cultural life and status of Denton through outstanding achievement in the field of fine arts or for service to the arts in the community. Join us this year as we celebrate the contributions of Terry Nobles to the arts of Denton.

Terry  is a graduate of Millsaps College and has lived in Denton since 1989. He performed in his first stage production in Denton in 1995 with Denton Light Opera Company. Since that time, Nobles has been featured in dozens of performances by Music Theatre of Denton, Denton Community Theatre, and fundraisers for both groups written by Donna Trammell. Nobles has held leadership roles on the boards of Denton Community Theatre, Denton Light Opera Company/Music Theatre of Denton, and Denton Festival Foundation (Arts & Jazz Festival). In addition, he has actively volunteered with Beaujolais & More Committee, Campus Theatre Committee, The Arts Guild, GDAC Capital Campaign and Grants Committee, and the Denton Day of the Dead Festival.

ALL STAR KARAOKE

Support the arts and hear your favorite Denton stars sing karaoke! Join us as Eric Pulido hosts an evening of All Star Karaoke at Dan's Silverleaf. After 10:00 PM, make a donation and take the stage with karaoke provided by DJ Mark Ridlen. All proceeds benefit the Greater Denton Arts Council and the arts of Denton.
