Starting January 19th, stay late at the Arts Center and enjoy programs, events, and exhibitions through 9 PM each Thursday night. Upcoming events include:
Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School | Every Third Thursday, 6 - 9 PM, $5 to draw
Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art school is the world's premier alt. drawing movement. Artists draw glamorous underground performers in a friendly BYOB environment (21 and up). Founded in 2005 at a dive bar in Brooklyn, Dr. Sketchy's has now spread to over 100 cities around the world. Join the Arts Council and artist Joe Duncan on the third Thursday of each month for a different theme/model - it's only $5 to draw, so come in, sit down, and BYOB.

Join art historian Jessica Hurd with artists Amahigueré Dolo and Souleyman Ouloguem for a special preview of our upcoming Dogon exhibition, on loan from The Menil Collection in Houston, Texas. The exhibition will be on view this fall in the Gough Gallery at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center.
Malian sculptor Amahigueré Dolo is internationally recognized for creating expressive wood forms and drawings on the crumpled surfaces of repurposed cement paper. Dolo is part of the exhibition ReCollecting Dogon now on view at The Menil Collection. His installation Components of the World (Adouron Bew), 2007, is the first presentation of his work in an American museum. The installation will travel to the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center this fall. The artists will discuss the upcoming exhibition with art historian Jessica Hurd.

The stars are big and bright at the PAAC as we dedicate this First Friday to kick off Texas History Month! Celebrate traditional to contemporary artistic traditions of Texas. Enjoy family art activities, a marshmallow roast around the campfire, and much more!
ALL STAR KARAOKE
Support the arts and hear your favorite Denton stars sing karaoke! Join us as Eric Pulido hosts an evening of All Star Karaoke at Dan's Silverleaf. After 10:00 PM, make a donation and take the stage with karaoke provided by DJ Mark Ridlen. All proceeds benefit the Greater Denton Arts Council and the arts of Denton.
