Artist Statement:
I am a mixed media artist and painter originally from Fort Worth. I received my Associate of Arts in Visual Arts and Design from Tarrant County College and am currently based in Denton, Texas, where I am pursuing a BFA in Drawing and Painting at the University of North Texas.
My work explores ideas, images, and techniques that I find important and meaningful. I am interested in emotional truth and the individual's emotional and sensory perspective of the world, and how subjective experience becomes a fact of reality as a way of understanding the human experience. Inspired by natural science, history, poetry, and autobiography, I create layered works that examine how personal experiences connect to broader cultural ideas.
Extreme Sports and Me is about the social risks involved in expressing and accepting love, what it means to be emotionally vulnerable, and how relationships are shaped and changed by social media.
