The Early Birds is a newly established early music ensemble dedicated to celebrating the rich and expressive sounds of the Baroque era. Founded by Sydney ZumMallen—a Juilliard alumna and current faculty member at the University of North Texas—the group brings a fresh and historically informed perspective to this early baroque repertoire.
Their upcoming program, “Inventions of the Early Baroque,” showcases some of the finest Baroque string players from UNT, performing works by Purcell, Castello, Gervais, Biber, Holborne, and others. This repertoire is especially captivating, as much of it calls for creative arranging and spontaneous ornamentation, ensuring that each performance is truly one-of-a-kind.
