Materials: Hard + Soft 2026 Call for Art Open Now!

Once again our largest signature exhibition call for art is now open! For 39 years, MHS has carved out a place for artists working in craft media to receive the recognition they deserve. We expanded the exhibition in 2025 to include digital and conceptual art for the first time and now we’re reimagining the show again with new awards categories including two Juror’s Choice awards, Best Quality Craftmanship, Best in New Media, Most Innovative Use of Materials, and The Storyteller which will recognize the artwork with the most compelling narrative element.

The intention of these new awards, as explained by GDAC Exhibitions Curator Caitlin Spencer, is to “explore ephemeral things beyond physical materials and add a new dimensionality to the show.” To learn more about MHS 2026 and submit your artwork, visit the MHS call page on our website.
