Welcome our cofounder and Executive Director, Joshua Steven Bryant, as our next Back Door Resident!
Joshua Steven Bryant is an artist and educator based in Denton, TX. He makes interdisciplinary sculptures and paintings that stem from experiences with disability through chronic pain that left him largely immobile for two years. From that time spent reliant on seating, chairs have become a symbol across his work. Bryant’s process is a blend of abstraction and conceptualism, heavily intuitive and a way for him to process his experiences and research. He earned his MFA from the University of North Texas. Bryant co-founded Paper Chair Studios and teaches studio art for UNT.
Visit Joshua at Back Door Residency during Arts & Autos: Art Car Alley on Friday, September 11th, from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Back Door Residency is made possible by support from Greater Denton Arts Council.
📍 The entrance to Back Door Residency is on the side of the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center facing Hickory Street. At this time, Back Door Residency is not wheelchair accessible due to the age of the building. Paper Chair + GDAC are working to make the space ADA accessible in the future.
