Black Widow, 2026

Foam, PVC pipe, paint, LED lights

Black Widow is a sculptural exploration of scale, texture, and light. I CNC‑routered foam to form the spider’s body, shaping it into a smooth, realistic form before coating it in glossy black paint. The legs were built from PVC pipe, then expanded and textured with spray foam to create an organic, lifelike structure. Inside the body, LED lights illuminate the iconic red markings of the black widow, giving the piece a subtle internal glow. Surrounding the spider is a suspended web made entirely of LED lights, creating an environment in which the sculpture and its light interact. This work brings together industrial materials and hand‑built processes to transform a familiar creature into an immersive, electric presence.
