Sculpture/Projection

“I'm Luzmarie, and what I love to do is create installation and performance art by incorporating sculpture, video art, and projections. I want my art to live within a space where time is an essential element. Whether it's through the duration of a performance piece or a sculpture enhanced by video projection, I aim to make time part of the experience.

In every piece I create, I want the viewer to be fully engaged and intrigued to see what comes next. My goal is to express personal feelings and experiences through my work while also inviting viewers to form their own interpretations.

As I continue developing my art, I want to explore a variety of mediums and evoke a wide range of emotions. My deepest inspiration comes from the personal experiences and emotions I connect with. I'm curious to see how my art evolves alongside the different stages of my life.”

Selected as a runner-up for the Electric! Artist Stipend, sponsored by LSA Burger Co. and Interfaith Ministries of Denton.

About:

“Growing up, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to grow in a free environment created by my family and peers. Having this freedom of space allowed me to explore various interests within myself and express who I was without judgment. This included pretending to be a model, creating vlogs on my sister’s camera for my invisible audience, and acting as her professional photographer. All of these memories shaped who I am now. Little me was energetic and excited to try different things.

There’s one memory that will always stick with me because it defines who I am as a person. I loved using my sister’s camera, and one day, I accidentally deleted all of her pictures and videos. I was so deeply upset by what I had done that I recorded an apology video on her camera. That moment taught me how deeply I care about others, their feelings, and their memories. Even though I erased those captured moments, by creating that apology video, I unintentionally created a new memory, one that has stuck with me ever since.

Being the youngest child, I grew up watching my siblings experience their teenage years and transition into adulthood. They have always been my biggest inspirations and have helped shape my interests in music, photography, fashion, design, and overall creativity. Most importantly, I now feel like I’m growing into the version of myself that I love. Of course, this growth has always been possible because of the unwavering support of my family. Thanks to that support, I was able to travel across the globe and study abroad in South Korea. A place where I discovered new interests, explored my independence, and built lifelong connections. As I move forward in life, I’m determined to live out my dreams and lead a happy, fulfilling life.”
