Mission

The Greater Denton Arts Council is a catalyst for creativity, advocacy and collaboration. The Patterson-Appleton Arts Center is our home where we celebrate the arts, inspire innovation and engage with the community through educational programs, and dynamic events for visitors of all ages.

Needs

The Arts Council appreciates your generous donation to help us grow public programs for children and families and support local artists and arts organizations.

GDAC is a 501c3 non-profit organization.

Funding for Children's Programs

GDAC provides art experiences for children through a variety of programs, including Summer Camp, Donut Dayz, Arts and Crafts, the Junior Denton Arts Council, and projects in collaboration with the Denton Independent School District. Two of our newest programs, Junior Denton Arts Council and our 8th Grade Projects, focus on older students, helping them cultivate their love for the arts.

Funding to our children's programs would support supplies and scholarships to allow us to reach more budding North Texas artists.

  • $25 | Provides Supplies for Summer Arts Camp;

  • $50 | Sponsors Greater Donuts Arts & Crafts, our Saturday morning family program;

  • $100 | Provides supplies projects with local students;

Funding for exhibitions:

GDAC hosts over 20 exhibitions throughout the year of local, national, and international artists and 3 locations across the city of Denton, including the Murchison Performing Arts Center at the University of North Texas, Embassy Suites Convention Center, and the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center. Our exhibitions showcase talent from young elementary school students all the way up to masters of craft and art. Our upcoming exhibitions for the fall include 63 & 93: Generations in Conversation, Impressions by the Denton State Supported Living Center, and local abstract work by Magda Plagge and her students.

Funds for exhibitions would go towards supplies, promotional marketing, recording equipment for online tours and programs, and helping provide scholarships for artists for Materials Hard + Soft, our international craft exhibition.
