Frame the Future Storytelling Lab, presented by Fourddo in partnership with the Denton Black Film Festival, is a fast, creative workshop where youth watch Denver’s short film, created through Black Girls Film Camp, Find Me in the Void, and then develop original stories inspired by its themes. Through quick idea generation and collaborative creation, participants explore identity, courage, and imagination in a fun, supportive environment. No experience needed, just a willingness to express and create.
About the Lab
Frame the Future Film Lab, presented by Fourddo in partnership with the Denton Black Film Festival Institute, is a fast, fun, and creative crash course in storytelling, perfect for youth who want to try something new, express themselves, or just see what it feels like to run a real film set.
We’ll start by watching Denver’s short film created through Black Girls Film Camp, Find Me in the Void, as inspiration, then dive into a hands-on creative sprint where participants can choose how they want to tell a story: writing a scene, creating a poem or monologue, designing a storyboard, building a shot list, or performing a live short moment.
Youth will pitch ideas, collaborate like a writers’ room, and rotate through roles including directing, acting, filming, and creative producing. Scenes or pieces are presented live while another group films them, capturing the moment without needing a separate screening.
Whether you’re a future filmmaker or just curious about storytelling, this lab gives you the chance to experiment, collaborate, and create something you’re proud of—no pressure, all creativity. More information and tickets availble here.
