Care Full Connections Opening Reception & Workshop - Friday Nov. 8 & Saturday Nov. 9, 2024

Gathering in the spirit of care—for ourselves and others—we welcomed to Gough Gallery our latest show, Care Full Connections, by fiber artists and mothers Cassie Arnold, Stefanie Zito, Lisa Alberts, and Kaylan Buteyn. We’re grateful for the outpouring of support from those who attended the opening reception and filled the galleries with laughter and conversation. If you missed the reception, don’t worry, Care Full Connections will be opening until February 2025! Immerse yourself in the softness of these fiber artworks showcasing the artists’ skills in knitting, quilting, sewing, cyanotype, and more. Leave a note in the book on the right side of the gallery when you walk in with your thoughts in response the exhibit and keep up with the Hang Loose Flags project on Instagram.

Following the reception, we were so fortunate to host all four artists again the next day for a flag making workshop engaging with the Hang Loose project. Participants made their own small flags in response to the prompt asking what personal vulnerabilities might have been evoked by the flags in the exhibition and stories might they “hang loose” if given the space. Our thanks to the workshop participants and to the artists for facilitating an excellent activity and conversation. At GDAC, we invite everyone not just to view the incredible artwork on display, but to interact with the work on a deeper level and celebrate your own creativity in the process.
